Pelicans’ CJ McCollum, Herbert Jones nursing injuries

The New Orleans Pelicans will be without guard CJ McCollum and forward Herb Jones for a few weeks, the team announced Friday.

McCollum, 33, will be sidelined approximately two-to-three weeks after being diagnosed with a right adductor strain.

He is averaging 18.8 points, 4.0 assists and 2.3 steals in four games (all starts) this season.

McCollum is contributing 19.5 points, 3.8 assists and 3.6 rebounds in 735 career games (638 starts) with the Portland Trail Blazers and Pelicans. He was selected by the Trail Blazers with the 10th overall pick of the 2013 NBA Draft.

Like McCollum, Jones sustained his injury during New Orleans’ 124-106 loss to the Golden State Warriors on Tuesday. Both players sat out Wednesday’s 104-89 setback to the Warriors.

Jones, 26, will be out approximately two-to-four weeks after sustaining a right shoulder strain and small low-grade partial thickness tear in his rotator cuff.

He is averaging 6.8 points and 2.5 rebounds in four games (all starts) this season.

Jones is contributing 10.1 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.4 assists in 224 career games (215 starts) since being selected by the Pelicans in the second round of the 2021 NBA Draft.
