Report: Mavs G Dante Exum (wrist) out for 3 months

Dallas Mavericks guard Dante Exum underwent wrist surgery and will be out three months, ESPN reported Wednesday.

Exum, who injured the wrist during a training camp workout, underwent surgery on Tuesday, per the report.

The Mavericks have not commented about the Australian’s injury, but posted a photo of him on social media Wednesday with the caption, “Wishing a speedy recovery to our mate.”

Exum, 29, averaged 7.8 points and 2.9 assists in 55 games (17 starts) for the Mavericks last season, his first in the NBA after two years playing in Europe. He missed most of January and February with foot and knee injuries.

Exum, the No. 5 overall pick in the 2014 draft by the Utah Jazz, averages 6.1 points and 2.2 assists in 300 career games (89 starts) for the Jazz (2014-15; 2016-19), Cleveland Cavaliers (2019-21) and Mavericks.

Exum missed the entire 2015-16 season with a knee injury.

The Mavericks open their 2024-25 campaign at home against the San Antonio Spurs on Oct. 24.
